Who we are...
Swales Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream is the area’s largest
farm-based dairy ice cream producer and mobile retailer. We are
a family business, owned and run by Gary and Mandy Rogers, who
have been working in the dairy ice cream industry for over 17
years.
Where we live…
There is
no better location for Swales Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream than
Calm Slate Farm in Halton East, near Bolton Abbey. Surrounded
by the unrivalled scenery of Yorkshire Dales, we have a superb
120 acre working farm with a modern and efficient ice cream production
facility, plus, plenty of storage and housing for our 50
branded vehicles, supplies and equipment. The farm
also encompasses a delightful family home for Gary,
Mandy and our four children, housing for our
pedigree Charolais herd and basically enables us
to fit everything that we need under one roof; home,
farming, manufacture
and retail.
What we make...
At Swales Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream we manufacture 1,200 delicious
litres of farm-made dairy ice cream per hour and then sell
it to our many customers through a variety of tailor made services.
What’s in it...
Good fresh local ingredients; milk, cream, sugar and butter. At Swales we work
in partnership with seven farms in the Yorkshire Dales to ensure that our raw
ingredients travel less miles, are fully traceable at source and that the animals
and their environment are very well looked after.
Why we do it...
There is nothing that we do not know about ice cream. It’s our business
and equally; it’s our passion. So its simple, we do it because we love
it and because we can offer great tasting locally produced dairy ice cream at
an excellent price for the many others who love ice cream too.
